Ο Νίκος Μακρόπουλος γεννήθηκε και μεγάλωσε στη Θεσσαλονίκη. Ο ίδιος έχει δηλώσει πως ήταν αναποφάσιστος όταν ήταν νέος για το τι επάγγελμα θα έκανε αλλά μετά που τελείωσε το σχολείο στα 18 σπούδασε στην Αθήνα Γυμναστική Ακαδημία. Όμως για να τελειώσει τις σπουδές του άργησε αρκετά χρόνια. Την περίοδο που δεν είχε τελειώσει τις σπουδές του έκανε τα πρώτα του βήματα τραγουδώντας σε μαγαζιά της Θεσσαλονίκης. Τότε κυκλοφόρησε και το πρώτο του CD που το υπέγραψαν ο Γιώργος Θεοφάνους και η Εύη Δρούτσα.
